Downtown Miami has a striking new cultural landmark: the world’s largest outdoor mural of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Visionary developer Moishe Mana commissioned internationally acclaimed Spanish artist René Mäkelä (Makelismos) to transform the east-facing wall of Mana Common HQ (21 SE 1st Ave) in the Flagler District into a towering reinterpretation of the masterpiece.

Created over 1.5 months using 120 gallons of paint and 1,200 spray cans, the mural faithfully mirrors the original’s enigmatic smile while bringing Renaissance art to Miami’s historic core as the district undergoes major revitalization. It follows Girl with a Pearl Earring, completed in 2024, with additional classical works already in the pipeline.

Our intention in bringing Renaissance art reflects the Renaissance of the Flagler District,” said Mana. “We need to bring classical, traditional art out into the streets—to make the streets themselves feel like a museum. If people don’t go to the museum, then we should bring the museum to them.

Mana added, “We learned from the Medici family in Florence, who invested in art, fashion, architecture, and innovation. This is the business model we believe in and this is what we are doing.

The mural’s unveiling marks another milestone in the Flagler District’s transformation, blending history, artistry, and progress.
