Internationally acclaimed artistic duo PichiAvo created a large-scale mural at 28-30 Pallados Street in Athens, Greece, marking their first professional project in Greece. Titled An Offering to Athens, the project was conceived as a self-initiated and self-funded gesture to the city—an artistic offering that reflects both personal and cultural significance.
At the center of the mural is Athena, the patron goddess of Athens, whose mythological gift of the olive tree symbolizes peace and prosperity. By revisiting this founding narrative, PichiAvo positioned the work itself as a contemporary offering to the city, establishing a dialogue between ancient mythology and present-day urban culture. The piece was executed in their signature style, merging classical sculptural imagery with vibrant graffiti, creating a visual bridge between heritage and contemporary expression.
This project represents a major milestone for the artists, who have long drawn inspiration from Greek mythology, classical art, and architecture. Bringing their work to Athens marks the realization of a long-awaited ambition and a meaningful return to one of the foundational influences of their practice.
Developed over the course of more than two years, the mural reflects both the scale and complexity of the undertaking. While independently conceived and driven by the artists, its realization has been made possible through the support of institutional partners, private patrons, and collaborators—highlighting a significant collective effort behind the project.
Located near the Acropolis in Athens’ Psirri neighborhood, the mural is set to become a new visual landmark within Athens’ evolving cultural landscape, contributing to the ongoing dialogue between history and contemporary creativity.
“Bringing our work to Athens feels like completing a circle,” says PichiAvo. “Greek culture has always been at the core of what we do—this mural is our way of giving something back, an offering to the city that has inspired us for so long.”
About PichiAvo
PichiAvo is the artistic duo of Juan Antonio (Pichi, b. 1977) and Álvaro (Avo, b. 1985), artists from Valencia, Spain, known for their distinctive fusion of classical art and graffiti. Working across painting, sculpture, and large-scale public installations, their practice bridges ancient mythology with contemporary urban expression. The two met through Valencia’s graffiti scene and formed the PichiAvo duo in 2007, developing a collaborative language that moves fluidly between the street and the studio. Since their international debut at the North West Walls Festival in Belgium in 2015, they have completed major projects worldwide, including commissions at Wynwood Walls in Miami, the Hard Rock Stadium, and the Houston–Bowery Wall in New York, where they became the first European artists invited to paint the site. Their work ranges from monumental public interventions—such as a 26-meter sculpture for Valencia’s Fallas festival—to exhibitions and international collaborations, including projects developed for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. In 2024, they also published Our Odyssey, their first anthology tracing their artistic journey and signature visual language.
