Diary, a speakeasy bar inspired by the intimate spirit of Frida Kahlo’s diary, will debut inside the lobby of Frida Kahlo Wynwood Residences. Designed as an homage, not a reproduction, this intimate, layered, and immersive environment will envelope residents and visitors from the moment they step indoors with the raw emotion, bold artistry, and rich symbolism that defined her work. Its debut comes shortly after PMG and LNDMRK Development launched sales for the iconic 244-residence development, which will rise as the first Frida Kahlo-branded residential project.
Instrumental in the process of ensuring this intimate space’s visual impact and tie to Frida Kahlo’s lasting cultural legacy were Beatriz Alvarado, CCO and Head of Global Trends at Frida Kahlo Licensing Group and David Romero, founder of MIA LAB.

Defining features of Diary include:
- Frida-Inspired Writing on the Wall: The entire wall behind Diary’s barfront will feature a dramatic installation inspired by the tone of Frida Kahlo’s personal diary, capturing the raw emotion, unfiltered introspection, and intensity she poured into its pages and, eventually, her art.
- A Striking Sculptural Installation – Serving as the centerpiece of the space and a striking tribute, this elaborate metallic piece overlooking the speakeasy will draw all eyes to Frida Kahlo herself from the moment they step inside, reminding guests of her ever-present artistic impact.
- Pops of Color & Texture – Frida Kahlo’s use of vibrant colors to convey emotion and promote storytelling is emblematic of her legacy as an artist. This speakeasy will likewise incorporate bold pops of color through greenery and accented pieces throughout the space, complementing these choices with juxtaposed waves, curves, and striking lines. Together, these evocative visuals beckon all visitors to examine the finer details of the world around them as they sip and admire.
- Indoor/Outdoor Ambiance – Drawing from Miami’s interplay between the built and natural environment, the speakeasy lobby bar will weave the energy of an outdoor space into the more intimate setting of an indoor speakeasy. Lush greenery and natural light will surround the space, while plush seating and elegantly draped decor envelope the speakeasy in refined beauty.
Just as the pages of Frida Kahlo’s diary entries are filled with countless memories and snapshots of her life, Diary will invite guests to participate in creative introspection as they pause from their day-to-day lives and sip on classically crafted spirits.
