Art is far more than decoration; it shapes how we experience and connect to where we live and the places around us. From familiar patterns of color and shapes to community references that resonate deeply, art can transform the look and feel of a space to aid in creating a true home. Recent studies show that thoughtfully integrated public art fosters a stronger sense of community, with color, geometry, and cultural references transforming shared spaces into places of identity and belonging.

Real estate developers are taking note, and incorporating new, commissioned and locally sourced art works into their latest residential developments.

Florida

In South Florida, Baron Property Group tapped Miami-born and internationally acclaimed artist Alexander Mijares to add vibrancy to the lobby of their Hialeah rental development, Metro Parc. Mijares created a stunning custom mural. Setting the tone for the residential experience upon arrival, the striking lobby mural welcomes residents home and immediately commands attention. Mijares’ bold, colorful installation infuses the lobby with movement and energy through its vibrant spray-painted hues and dynamic shapes. Known for his collaboration with Pitbull, Mijares drew inspiration from the energy of his hometown and his Cuban and Spanish roots, transforming the Metro Parc’s entrance into a cultural statement piece that celebrates Miami’s rich artistic spirit.

Similarly, Joule House, a new rental development located in Wynwood, offers residents immediate access to Miami’s creative epicenter. The development is home to Calle Collective, which transforms over 26,000 square feet of everyday walls into a kaleidoscope of color and meaning. Curated in partnership with WXLLSPACE and designed as the neighborhood’s next cultural and social destination, Calle Collective showcases 19 large-scale murals by Miami-based artists, each a bold expression of style and personal inspiration redefining the convergence of art, commerce and community.

New York

This trend is even showing up in New York. In the heart of Coney Island, 1515 Surf features art by Snoeman, a beloved, New York-based graffiti artist known for his use of bright colors and unique designs. The art at this 100% electric, 463-unit residential community reflects the character of Coney Island — bold, colorful, and rooted in the neighborhood. Snoeman’s graffiti brings unmistakable street energy to the building. Alongside artists like Timothy Goodman and Corey Paige, these creatives helped craft a sense of place that truly resonates with residents. This connection to local culture has played an important role in people choosing to call 1515 Surf home.

These forward-thinking residential developments demonstrate how curated, locally inspired artwork can elevate lobby environments, enhance daily life, and redefine a building’s character from the moment residents walk through the door.
