Museum of Graffiti’s Art Week Takeover: JonOne, Origins, and Three Days of Cultural Immersion
The Museum of Graffiti is celebrating its sixth anniversary during Miami Art Week with a complete exhibition overhaul, a blockbuster solo show by internationally acclaimed artist JonOne, and the return of its outdoor patio—now a hub for parties, brand activations, and live performances. The result is one of Art Week’s most dynamic and immersive cultural experiences.
A Fresh Exhibition That Rewinds the Clock
Visitors enter the newly launched Origins exhibition through a recreated vintage hardware store—an atmospheric time capsule honoring the DIY spirit of early graffiti. The space doubles as a working paint shop stocked with Rust-O, Rust-Oleum’s new spray paint line developed specifically for artists.
Inside, Origins showcases rarely seen works by United Graffiti Artists members PHASE2, FLINT 707, SNAKE 1, and COCO144. These paintings, last exhibited in 1973, represent one of graffiti’s earliest transitions into the gallery world. “Tracking down rare artifacts like this was always part of our mission so that the true history of graffiti can be shared in the most authentic way,” said Museum co-founder Allison Freidin.

JonOne Brings “El Tiguere” to Miami
Running parallel to Origins is El Tiguere, a new solo exhibition by Harlem-born artist JonOne. Known for transforming graffiti into a vibrant, gestural form of abstract expressionism, JonOne explores themes of resilience and survival in this show, named after Dominican slang for a hustler with grit.
The exhibition features his signature dripping colors, dynamic movement, and layered compositions. For the first time in Miami, the Museum will also host a fully functioning JonOne studio on-site, allowing visitors to watch the artist paint live throughout Art Week. “Once vilified, we now celebrate his artistic genius,” said Museum co-founder and curator Alan Ket.
