This fall, Coconut Grove further cements its place as one of Miami’s hottest dining neighborhoods. Mae’s Group and Ariete Hospitality Group are rolling out three openings at once: Chuggie’s, a nostalgic burger joint; Drinking Pig BBQ, a beloved smokehouse; and Mae’s Room, an intimate cocktail lounge. Together, they set the tone for the next chapter of the Grove’s culinary identity.
Drinking Pig BBQ: Smoke and Soul
Chef Raheem Sealey’s Caribbean-inspired Drinking Pig BBQ made waves as a pop-up, and quickly became one of Miami’s most sought-after barbecue spots. Now it finally has a permanent home in the Grove, serving smoked brisket, ribs, and chicken paired with signature sauces guests won’t want to miss. What makes Drinking Pig special isn’t just the food—it’s the spirit. Sealey has built a place where barbecue is about gathering, sharing and slowing down to enjoy the moment together.
Mae’s Room: Sip in Style
For cocktail lovers, Mae’s Room promises a warm yet elevated experience. The 750-square-foot lounge was inspired by Mae, a Bronx-born artist and hostess, blending midcentury design with curated playlists and a sharp cocktail list. Under the guidance of Tom Lasher-Walker, the menu focuses on timeless classics; martinis, old-fashioneds and daiquiris served with precision. Guests can also pair their drinks with bites from Chuggie’s, making it as fun as it is refined.
Chuggie’s: The Burger Joint Reimagined
At Chuggie’s, Chef Michael Beltran taps into the ’90s with a classic menu that’s both approachable and crave-worthy. Expect fritas, chicken sandwiches, classic fries and mouth-watering swirl cones of soft-serve, all paired with $8 burgers and $4 beers. With patio seating, kids meals and playful branding, Chuggie’s is designed as a gathering spot where everyone feels welcome.
Mae’s Group and Ariete Hospitality Group are curating a new chapter for the neighborhood. Chuggie’s taps into nostalgia, Drinking Pig BBQ celebrates heritage and community and Mae’s Room brings back the art of the cocktail hour. Together, the concepts create a layered experience that feels both timely and timeless in the Grove.
