Fort Lauderdale development and city leaders gathered at the iconic rotating Pier Top lounge at Pier Sixty-Six to discuss the city’s development growth. Hosted in partnership with One Sotheby’s International Realty, the gathering drew a number of high-profile attendees, including Perla Lichi, a friend and trusted design curator of Luxury Guide USA, alongside a curated mix of industry leaders and tastemakers.
From infrastructure investments and transit expansion to increasing demand for waterfront and mixed-use development, alongside Fort Lauderdale’s relative value compared to neighboring markets, panelists highlighted the factors attracting new investment to the city. The discussion also touched on connectivity, growth around the airport and rail corridors, and the importance of long-term planning and community engagement as development accelerates.
With more than $10 billion in development underway and over 50 projects in the pipeline, Fort Lauderdale is entering a new phase of large-scale investment. Panelists pointed to the city’s accessibility compared to Miami and Palm Beach as a continued draw for developers, while emphasizing how transit connectivity is strengthening its position within South Florida. At the same time, a growing focus on walkability and public realm improvements, particularly along corridors like Las Olas, reflects a broader shift toward more integrated, lifestyle-driven development.
As Fort Lauderdale continues to evolve, the conversation underscored a shared focus on thoughtful growth, connectivity and the long-term opportunities still ahead.
The host location, Pier Sixty-Six, developed by Tavistock Development Company, is a reimagined 32-acre waterfront destination along the Intracoastal Waterway, positioned as the social harbor of Fort Lauderdale. The property includes Pier Sixty-Six Residences, a collection of luxury homes across multiple buildings, offering direct access to the resort’s superyacht marina, 12 culinary and beverage destinations including the historic Pier Top, and the 13,000-square-foot Zenova Spa & Wellness, reflecting a marina-inspired lifestyle and a growing demand for hospitality-driven residential living.
