5b networking at navigating real estate funds panel discussion

Commercial Real Estate Women Miami (CREW Miami) welcomed industry professionals to Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables on May 13, for its breakfast program, “Navigating Real Estate Funds: From Structure to Sponsor Execution.”

The discussion focused on fund structuring, investment strategy, sponsor operations, legal frameworks, and capital deployment in today’s commercial real estate market. More than 80 professionals attended the event, which featured an all-female panel with expertise across investments, legal structuring, accounting, and sponsor operations.

“CREW Miami’s programs bring together leaders from across the industry and create opportunities for professionals to learn from diverse expertise and perspectives,” said Emily Butler, CPA, Office Managing Partner at CohnReznick (Miami) and 2026 CREW Miami Board President.

Throughout the morning, panelists explored topics including preferred equity, mezzanine financing, REITs, Delaware Statutory Trusts (DSTs), underwriting discipline, family office investment activity, and evolving market conditions across South Florida and beyond.

The conversation also highlighted how investors are placing increased importance on operational expertise, sponsor track record, and long-term asset management capabilities when evaluating opportunities.

The panel featured Karla Damas of Cherry Bekaert, Silvia Fernandes of ARCTRUST, Galina Churchill of Pensam, and Danielle C. Price of Holland & Knight LLP.

Beyond market insights, the breakfast program reflected CREW Miami’s continued commitment to education, professional development, networking, and advancing women within the commercial real estate industry.

The event also provided attendees with dedicated networking opportunities while continuing the dialogue around capital strategy and investment trends shaping today’s market.
