Louis Vuitton Celebrates 130 Years of the Monogram With New Monogram Emblème Collection
There are few patterns as iconic and instantly recognizable as the Louis Vuitton Monogram. Its interlocking shapes have adorned everything from totes to grand voyage trunks, becoming a staple of status since its inception. To commemorate the 130th anniversary of this legendary motif, Louis Vuitton introduces the Monogram Emblème jacquard canvas. It’s a fresh, tactile reinterpretation that pays tribute to its origins while offering new ways to wear and gift a piece of history.
How Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Became a Global Fashion Icon
Following Louis Vuitton’s death in 1892, his son Georges took the helm and sought a new signature that would combat counterfeit attempts that plagued the luggage market at that time. In 1896, he unveiled the Monogram canvas, which was an elegant composition of intertwined “LV” initials, stylized florals, and quatrefoils. The pattern had a rich reference palette, from Art Nouveau to Japanese family crests and Gothic heraldic designs. Its complexity meant it was difficult to replicate, but also inadvertently made it a status symbol synonymous with LV. Even over a century later, after many reinterpretations and playful twists, it remains unlike any other pattern in fashion.

Monogram Emblème Reimagines a Louis Vuitton Classic
The new fabric is made from GOTS-certified cotton and linen fibres, reminiscent of the canvases once used on the classic travel trunks of the most glamorous travelers. The weave is noticeably denser than previous versions, giving an almost embroidered effect that makes it something to behold up close. And though seemingly delicate, the fabric is water-repellent and tough enough for everyday wear. Monogram Emblème is available in an array of colors drawn from the House’s library, with the addition of two fresh shades for Pre-Fall 2026: Peuplier, a warm neutral, and Rose Ruban, a soft blush.

Depending on your special someone’s tastes, explore the updated fabric on the structured Alma, the spacious Neverfull tote, the legendary Speedy, the bucket-style Noé, the roomy Keepall, or the compact Side Trunk.
