Arlo Wynwood invites comedy fans to “ArLOL,” a stand-up comedy showcase on Thursday, May 21 at 9 p.m., hosted by Paula Barrios. Barrios is a Miami-based comedian known for her work in stand-up and voice acting.
The night will be headlined by Kyle Grooms, with feature comedian Sergio Mendez and guest Christi Carter. Best known for his Comedy Central stand-up special and appearances on Chappelle’s Show, Last Comic Standing and VH1, Grooms brings his sharp observations and hilarious stories back to Miami for a night of live comedy at Arlo Wynwood’s Higher Ground.
The lineup also includes Sergio Mendez, known for his relatable comedy on social media inspired by Miami life and appearance on Roast Battle at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Christi Carter joins the lineup with relatable stories centered on women and motherhood, taking her act across the nation. Grooms and his fellow nationally touring and rising comedians are sure to bring a night of laughs to the heart of Wynwood at ArLOL Thursday night.

The international Spanish-language comedy festival, “Miami es un Chiste” (“Miami is a Joke”), is set to bring laughter to the Miami Improv at CityPlace Doral this Spring, positioning the state of Florida as the capital of Latino comedy. Featuring 30 shows and 55 of the most recognized comedians from Latin America and Spain, the festival will take place now through May 31.
More than a festival, “Miami es un Chiste” is a platform for cultural connection that brings together artists, creators, industry professionals and multicultural audiences. Programming includes stand up performances, live podcasts and sketches reflecting the diversity of styles, accents and perspectives that define contemporary Latino humor.

The exhibit, a collaboration with Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library and Florida International University, is curated by Fred Fejes, professor emeritus of multimedia studies at Florida Atlantic University and Julio Capo, Jr., an author and associate professor of history at Florida International University.

Guests are then gently guided through the foundations of sound therapy, what it is, how it works, and how vibrational frequencies can support deep relaxation, energetic alignment, and inner clarity.
The space is ceremonially cleared using sage and feather along with a full guided meditation, creating a calm and intentional container for the experience.
Guests are then enveloped in a full sound bath featuring Himalayan singing bowls, drums, rain sticks, Koshi wind chimes, and gongs. Layers of sound wash over the body to encourage release, restoration, and deep meditative stillness.

School is out but Camp STEAMology is in! Children ages 5 – 10 can travel “Around the World” December 26 – 29, from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
In this four-day program, campers will learn about the different continents of the world diving into the science of zoology, migration and behavioral patterns, weather models and more. They’ll even engineer a coral nursery that is resilient to weather fluctuations. Children will explore different cultures around the world and create an art piece with diverse cultural influences.
South Florida’s award-winning attraction featuring 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, a rotating schedule of science shows, learning labs, café, store and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture; the largest clock in Florida. The showpiece of the museum since 1993, this unique timepiece is one of only three in the world.
Children can also visit MODS’ newest traveling exhibit “Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails!” Rail. The exhibit was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum in partnership with Mattel, Inc. and is nationally presented by Fisher-Price.

History Fort Lauderdale will host an opening reception and meet-and-greet for its “Three by the River” Artists-in-Residence annual exhibition on Thursday, June 4, from 6 – 8 p.m., at the New River Inn Museum of History building on History Fort Lauderdale’s campus. Featured artists include Constance Ivana, Stephanie McMillan, and Florencia Clement de Grandprey. Complimentary light bites and beverages will be provided. The exhibition runs through June 30.
Constance Ivana is a Fort Lauderdale–based mural artist and visual creative passionate about creating bold, vibrant artwork that sparks reflection, conversation, and joy. Her art is inspired by social justice, Black stories, women’s voices, and nature.
Stephanie McMillan is a third-generation Fort Lauderdale resident and artist. Her distinctive style combines affectionate humor with the bright colors of the sunny tropics. A graduate of the
Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, with a focus in animation, she began drawing illustrations and editorial cartoons, for which she won several Florida Press Club awards. This led to 25 years as a widely published freelance cartoonist and illustrator producing award-winning editorial cartoons, syndicated comic strips, comic journalism, and graphic novels. In recent years she has returned to painting, drawing, and mixed media assemblage. She is the author/illustrator of several books including As the World Burns and The Beginning of the American Fall: A Comics Journalist Inside the Occupy Wall Street Movement (Seven Stories Press). Her original sketches, illustrations, comics, and papers are archived at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum at Ohio State University.
Born and raised in southern Spain, Florencia Clement de Grandprey is a self-taught mixed media figurative artist whose mission is to empower and inspire through meaningful and uplifting artwork. Her artistic journey began in 2014 when she left her full-time job in interior design to follow her true passion: painting. Clement de Grandprey has developed a style without rules, granting her the freedom to express herself fully. She blends her love for the classic masters with contemporary design, resulting in unique mixed media paintings. Her award-winning work celebrates strong, confident, soul-aligned men and women. She aims to highlight our unique, perfectly imperfect nature, bringing out our strengths and beauty as a reminder of who we truly are. She ensures that a variety of ethnicities are represented, making everyone feel seen and honored in her art.
