Cities of the Future also introduces viewers to a team of middle school students participating in the Future City Competition, an annual contest where 60,000 middle school students from the U.S. and around the world compete to create a model future city. Superhuman Body combines state-of-the-art CGI with the immediacy of the giant screen experience to show the inner workings of the human body and the use of science to intervene when our bodies break down. Audiences will learn about the medical innovations that changed the lives of individuals like Ty Duckett, an adaptive surfer with an above-the-knee amputation; James Garrett, whose heart condition was treated with a valve so advanced it didn’t require open heart surgery; and Emily Whitehead, a teen whose childhood leukemia was cured after life-changing T-cell therapy. The film also features the scientists behind these medical innovations, including Dr. Carl June, who invented the T-cell therapy that Whitehead underwent; Dr. Ayanna Howard, a pioneering roboticist who has made major advances in medical robotics; and Dr. Hugh Herr, a double amputee and professor at MIT responsible for major advancements in bionic limbs and prosthetics that provide greater mobility. In the lead up to NIFF’s October festival in New York, Bang & Olufsen will hold monthly, exclusive film screenings in its immersive Beohome space within its SoHo flagship store on Spring Street. On the last Thursday of each month, select guests will have a chance to enjoy an intimate private screening of a Nordic feature or selection of shorts curated by NIFF on Bang & Olufsen’s 77-inch Harmony television, with powerful sound provided by the award-winning Beolab 50 and Beolab 28 speakers.

Viewers will get to experience the films in one of the most powerful cinematic environments outside of a movie theater, with Bang & Olufsen speakers optimizing sound performance to adjust to the type of content being played and where the viewers are sitting.

Light bites and refreshments will be on offer at each viewing and guests will leave with a luxury goodie bag from one of Bang & Olufsen’s partners.
