There are moments when travel stops feeling like logistics and starts feeling like an experience. Stepping into a helicopter for the first time was one of those moments.

No traffic. No crowded terminals. No waiting around—just a smooth lift-off and a completely different perspective on how quickly, and effortlessly, you can move from one place to another.

Luxury helicopter travel isn’t about extravagance for the sake of it. It’s about time, access, and efficiency—three things that have quietly become the new definition of modern luxury.

A New Era of Vertical Travel

At the forefront of this evolution is Flexjet, led by Eli Flint, President of Flexjet Vertical. With more than 25 years of aviation experience, Flint has held multiple leadership roles across private aviation, including sales, marketing, and executive leadership. Type-rated in several business jets, his career began at FlightSafety International in 1994, where he spent a decade culminating as Managing Director for Latin America. He later became Sales Director for Bombardier Aerospace, playing an integral role in introducing the super mid-sized Challenger 300 to the fractional ownership market.

Having joined Flight Options in 2008 and subsequently continuing his leadership under Flexjet following its acquisition by Directional Aviation, Flint has helped guide the evolution of fractional and lease sales across one of the most modern fleets in private aviation. His background as both a pilot—fixed and rotary-wing—and executive uniquely positions him to understand both the technical precision and experiential impact of helicopter travel.

The vision behind vertical aviation is simple: complete the journey seamlessly; helicopters aren’t replacing jets—they’re extending them. They connect airports to final destinations, eliminate unnecessary ground delays, and create a cohesive, door-to-door experience.

A New Way to Think About Quick Travel

We’re all used to planning around traffic. Padding schedules. Leaving early “just in case.” Private helicopter transfers flip that thinking entirely.

Instead of spending hours navigating congested highways or coordinating complicated transfers, you’re suddenly moving above it all—literally. City to coast. Airport to residence. Minutes instead of hours.

What surprised me most wasn’t just the speed—it was how calm and seamless the experience felt. From lift-off to landing, everything was smooth, controlled, and surprisingly peaceful. You don’t feel rushed; you feel freed.

Where Aviation Meets Hospitality

Luxury today is defined as much by service as it is by speed.

Francesco Vanerio, Vice President of Owner Experience at Flexjet, brings nearly 20 years of luxury hospitality expertise to the aviation space. Before joining Flexjet, he was working at the historic Villa d’Este in Lake Como, Italy—his dream role—when he was recruited by Flexjet Chairman Kenn Ricci.

Today, Vanerio leads Flexjet’s cabin servers and directs the Red Label Academy in London, where highly specialized training ensures every detail of the in-flight experience reflects elevated hospitality standards.

It’s this combination of aviation precision and refined service that makes helicopter travel feel not just efficient—but intentional.

When the Journey Becomes the Highlight

One of the most unexpected parts of the experience? The view.

Seeing familiar landscapes from above completely changes your relationship with place. Waterfronts stretch endlessly. Cities look quieter, more intentional. The chaos below fades, replaced by clarity and calm.

It’s rare that transportation itself becomes part of the enjoyment—but executive helicopter service does exactly that. The journey isn’t something to “get through.” It’s something you actually look forward to.

Why Helicopter Travel Makes Practical Sense

Helicopters have long been associated with luxury, but what makes them truly valuable today is practicality.

They solve real-world challenges:

  • Beating traffic in major metropolitan areas
  • Connecting airports to homes, resorts, yachts, and private terminals
  • Turning short regional trips into effortless transitions
  • Supporting luxury air mobility for business and lifestyle efficiency

For people who value their time—and want travel to support their lifestyle instead of disrupt it—helicopters simply make sense. They’re not replacing jets; they’re completing the journey.

Time Is the Ultimate Luxury

What this experience underscored is something we often discuss in the luxury space: time is the ultimate asset. Luxury today isn’t just about beautiful things; it’s about removing friction, creating ease, and designing life so your energy goes where it matters most. Luxury helicopter travel eliminates unnecessary waiting, stress, and compromise—while elevating the entire experience in the process.

Looking Ahead

As travel continues to evolve, vertical aviation represents more than innovation—it reflects thoughtful design and intentional living.

Sometimes, the biggest luxury isn’t where you’re going—it’s how effortlessly you get there.

And sometimes, the best way forward… is straight up.
