The golden era of the legendary W16 engine has officially reached its final chapter. Bugatti has announced the completion of production for the W16 Mistral, with the final model rolling out of the historic Atelier in Molsheim. Appropriately dubbed “The Last of its Kind,” this breathtaking open-top hyper sports car marks the ultimate road-going tribute to a powertrain that redefined automotive performance for over two decades.
For discerning collectors and luxury automotive enthusiasts, the Bugatti Mistral represents the absolute zenith of bespoke engineering. Limited to just 99 global examples, each vehicle was curated via the brand’s elite Sur Mesure personalization program, ensuring that no two masterpieces in existence are identical.
This historic final unit features an exquisite, two-tone exterior livery of “Pearl” and “Sparkle,” perfectly balanced by an interior dressed in “Magnolia” and “Grey Carbon Matt.” Designed to bridge Bugatti’s past and present, the cabin includes a special dedication plate alongside an aluminum rendering of Ettore Bugatti’s signature on the door sills. Adding a deeply localized touch of heritage, a custom falcon sculpture rests atop the gear shifter, complemented by a striking armrest plate cast in frozen crystal glass by Lalique.
The W16 Mistral first captivated global audiences during its 2022 debut at Monterey Car Week, generating immense anticipation across luxury epicenters from Dubai to Beverly Hills. Its legacy was permanently cemented when the Mistral World Record Car achieved a staggering top speed of 282 mph, officially crowning it the fastest open-top production car in the world.
As Bugatti concludes this magnificent 99-car run, the hypercar manufacturer is already pivoting toward its highly anticipated future. The end of the W16 Mistral era coincides perfectly with the opening of La Manufacture, Bugatti’s expanded Molsheim facility dedicated to the upcoming Tourbillon production.
