New to the Scene: Broward, Boca & Palm Beach
PALM BEACH
History Reimagined
West Palm Beach is rolling out the red carpet for The Ben West Palm, downtown’s only waterfront hotel. Inspired by the historic Dewey family, who were among the area’s first pioneers, and their grand Ben Trovato Estate, this Autograph Collection hotel is bringing sophistication, hospitality and a bon vivant vibe to the area. The hotel features two new eateries: the stylish Proper Grit, serving dishes with locally sourced ingredients, and Spruzzo, the area’s only water-facing rooftop lounge offering cool cocktails and Mediterranean-inspired tapas. 251 N. Perfectly Parisian
Since 1972, diners have flocked to see and be seen at New York’s celebrated Upper East Side restaurant La Goulue. And now, the French bistro makes its Palm Beach debut. The new location has a similar decor as the original (think: handblown chandeliers and antique mirrors), but with a coastally elegant ambiance. Expect signature dishes such as foie gras terrine, cheese soufflé and steak tartare alongside a number of new seasonal additions. 288 S. County Road, Palm Beach; lagouluepalmbeach.com
Fresh Catch
CityPlace has been redesigned into Rosemary Square, and with all the renovations comes High Dive, a new seafood and spirits concept from Michelin-starred husband-and-wife culinary team Jeremy and Cindy Bearman (of Lantana’s Oceano Kitchen). The second-floor restaurant offers diners a casual alfresco dining experience featuring high-quality fresh catches, locally sourced ingredients and rare cocktails. 700 S. In the Family
The Abbenante family has been serving traditional Italian dishes to South Florida locals and visitors for nearly five decades. Their signature restaurant, Lynora’s, which already has locations in West Palm Beach and Jupiter, is now opening a fourth location at Alton Town Center in Palm Beach Gardens. Serving time-honored Italian favorites that have been in the family for generations, this homey eatery will also offer several new dishes such as tagliolini limone and a bruschetta trio. 143 Donald Ross Road, Palm Beach Gardens; 561.899.3117; lynoras.com
The Secret Garden
Draped in garden-inspired decor, Clematis Street’s new Sourbon Kitchen & Bar offers a mix of local and globally inspired dishes (think: Thai and Florida pink shrimp salad with a toasted sesame ginger glaze, Chilean sea bass with homemade cream sauce and lamb chops with a mojito drizzle). The eatery is also adding to downtown’s lively vibe with an upstairs speak-easy featuring handcrafted cocktails and live entertainment on select nights and weekends. 215 Clematis St., West Palm Beach; 561.247.7101; sourbon.com
