Mary Brickell Village’s newest eatery, Moxie’s, is the first Florida location for the popular restaurant brand, which has over 60 locations in Canada and three in Texas. Warmer temps call for light, fresh fare, which makes this guacamole a must-try for guests and a favorite of Head Chef Jimmy Jaques. “This is a great summer recipe and it’s easy to make for yourself or double up for your friends,” he says. “It’s the perfect afternoon snack for the patio, backyard or poolside. Just don’t forget to pair it with a couple of lime margaritas!” 900 S. Miami Ave., Miami; 305.549.8997; us.moxies.com
1 tsp fresh lime juice
1 tsp guacamole spice blend (equal parts kosher salt, cracked black pepper, cumin and chili powder)
1 tsp jalapeño, seeded, diced ¼-inch
1 tsp cilantro, chopped
1 tbsp tomato, diced ¼-inch
1 tbsp red onion, diced ¼-inch
Wash avocado and cut in half. Remove the pit then use a spoon to remove the flesh from the skin. Place the avocado into a bowl cut side up and season with spice blend. Add remaining ingredients to the bowl, then mash with a fork until smooth. You can adjust the amount of jalapeños up or down to suit your spice level. Serve with warmed tortilla chips and a side of your favorite salsa.
