Kala Opens Its First Miami Showroom, A Luxury Materials Lab Redefining Design Sourcing

Miami’s design scene welcomes a new player that redefines the way architects and designers source materials. Kala, a luxury materials lab and library, debuted this month with the opening of its first exclusive showroom in Miami. Offering a meticulously curated selection of artisanal, handmade, and globally sourced products, Kala provides a fresh perspective on high-end material sourcing.

Taking inspiration from its Sanskrit name, which means creativity or art, Kala is more than just a showroom—it is an immersive space designed to inspire. The Miami flagship introduces a speakeasy-style experience, offering an intimate, curated setting where creatives can explore rare and innovative materials. Unlike traditional flooring and tile stores, Kala’s collection is hand-selected from the world’s most distinguished suppliers, quarries, and manufacturers, featuring high-quality materials that are often difficult to find elsewhere.

The showroom showcases a diverse range of organic textures and finishes, including an extensive selection of handpicked travertine from Persia and South America, a material experiencing a resurgence in Miami’s evolving design landscape. Additionally, Kala offers a broad collection of natural limestones, ideal for achieving the minimalistic yet warm aesthetic currently trending in Florida homes.

“Our goal with Kala is to offer a space where designers can push the boundaries of their creativity,” says CEO and Founder Luis Prado. “We bring together exclusive, niche materials—whether it’s travertine or limestone for a Miami-inspired beach feel, bespoke engineered wood planks, or Agglo Pietra, a cutting-edge material from the terrazzo family. Each material is chosen not just for its quality but for its technical properties.”

Beyond traditional materials, Kala also introduces innovative solutions that ensure design visions become reality. The showroom features an exclusive wood collection crafted from naturally shaped tree planks, allowing clients to incorporate the organic movement of nature into their interiors. These custom planks can be finished in any color, embracing the growing trend of moving away from stark minimalism in favor of a more natural, organic aesthetic.

With a commitment to blending organic materials with cutting-edge design, Kala’s showroom is poised to become a hub for the design community. By offering access to rare materials and a space designed to spark creativity, Kala provides designers with the tools to push the boundaries of their craft.

Kala’s first Miami showroom opens at 7205-101 NE 4th Ave, Miami, FL 33138 this February. For more information or to schedule a private appointment, visit https://kalads.com.
