Homeownership Program Open Enrollment

Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s homeownership program applications to open for new two-story townhomes in Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs beginning on Wednesday, February 15, via www.habitatbroward.org. The application deadline is Friday, March 31. Qualified prospective homeowners do not want to miss this limited opportunity. The new energy-efficient, two-story townhomes will include three to four bedrooms, garages, modern kitchens, landscaped yards, and hurricane-impact windows. These locations are close to city centers, schools, churches, and recreational and shopping amenities with easy access to transportation and major traffic corridors. The application process has four steps that include a pre-qualification questionnaire, orientation, financial analysis review, and face-to-face interview. Successful applicants can expect to move into a home within 12 to 18 months. Qualifications include but are not limited to the following: • Must be a first-time homebuyer. • Must be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident. • Must be a current Broward County resident or working in Broward (for a year or more). • Must demonstrate a need for affordable housing. • Must be within HUD income guidelines. • Must be committed to making affordable mortgage payments. • Must be able to show $3,000 in savings and pay $2,700 in escrow. School is out, but MODS’ Camp STEAMology in in! Children ages 5 – 10 will spread their wings during this month’s spring break Camp Aviation Academy from March 25 – March 29! Campers will join MODS’ very own Aviation Academy interns as they demonstrate some of the most amazing aviation activities! Learn from up-and-coming aviators about the world of aviation, tinker with machinery and take flight in MODS’ Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust Hangar. South Florida’s award-winning attraction features 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, a rotating schedule of science shows, learning labs, café, store and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture; the largest clock in Florida. The showpiece of the museum since 1993, this unique timepiece is one of only three in the world. Children can also visit and investigate underwater marvels in MODS’ Voyage to the Deep – Underwater Adventures, a new traveling exhibit. “Seas” the day and embark on the legendary Nautilus submarine with Captain Nemo for an interactive journey of underwater exploration!
