Arlo Hotels Announces “Arlol” Comedy Series
Arlo Hotels, an independent, experience-driven lifestyle hotel brand, is proud to announce the launch of its ArLOL Comedy Series. This show brings some of New York City and Miami’s funniest comedians together for an ongoing series of laughter, community engagement and support of local comedic talent. Arlo’s locations in SoHo, NoMad, Midtown and Wynwood will host renowned comedians for stand-up comedy shows on an ongoing basis going forward.
“At Arlo Hotels, we always work with the community to bring people together,” explained Kristen Daniels, director of marketing for Arlo Hotels. “With the launch of our ArLOL Comedy Series, hotel guests and locals have the opportunity to gather, laugh and celebrate while supporting some of the entertainment industry’s rising stars in comedy.”
Arlo Wynwood’s tropical urban retreat Higher Ground will host ArLOL on July 27 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Hosted by stand-up comedian Pauley McPaulerson, who first coined the term “ArLOL,” the event will feature headliner Carlos Hernandez, a comedian, actor, improviser, director, writer, host, instructor and content creator whose alter ego, Yurisbel, received a golden ticket on Season 19 of American Idol; Julie Baez, host of the podcast The Julie Baez Show; and Luis Diaz, who has been in the entertainment industry since elementary school, performing in theater and eventually alongside top comedians.
The New York City Events are hosted and curated by comedian Flora Manon. Flora is a stand-up comedian and actor, known for roles in The Incantation and Mob Town. She is the host of weekly comedy series The Irritable B**** Show at the Bee’s Knees Cocktail House. New York City’s August lineup includes:
Arlo Midtown’s ArLOL event will take place on August 2 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Terrace and will include a lineup of celebrated comedians including Melody Kamali, known for comedy show Bi Panic!; Stewart Fullerton, known for comedy series Big Naturals; Lissa Lenis, producer of Bodega Kida Comedy and Spic n Span Comedy; Marcia Belsky, known for her musical comedy in duo Free the Mind; Lindsay Boling, who has been featured in national comedy festivals such as the New York Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Fest and Limestone Fest and Sureni Weerasekera, the creator of Medium Raosts, a mini video series that she wrote, directed and acted in.
Arlo SoHo’s Second Floor Studios will host ArLOL events on August 9 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. with headlining comedians Oscar Aydin, known for his stand-up comedy and Oh Oscar! Podcast; Ian Lara, featured on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon; Julia Shiplett, best known for her appearance in HBO’s High Maintenance, Love Life and Crashing; Maddie Smith, cast member on MTV’s Wild-n-Out; and Courtney Maginnis, known for sketches is Comedy Central and Collegehumor.
Arlo NoMad will host the event on August 18 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. with headlining comedians to be announced.
ArLOL kicked off earlier this summer with their ArLOL Comedy Series: Pride edition at Arlo NoMad, featuring a lineup of all queer comedians. Headliners included Ruth Allen, stand-up comedian and host of a weekly comedy series at Brooklyn Comedy Series; Dylan Adler, writer for The Late Late Show with James Corden; Comedy duo Zack and Drew, known for their hit queer variety show Haus Party; Jake Cornell, internet comedian and actor featured in Vogue’s list of the 8 Funniest Accounts on TikTok; and Alex English, Emmy-nominated writer for Saturday Night Live.
Other participating comics include Zach Zimmerman, known for his appearances on The Late Late Show with James Corden and Watch What Happens Live; Mary Beth Barone, known for her work on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Comedy Central; Harshil Shukla, a regular in the New York City comedy club scene known for participating in South Asian comedy groups; Liza Treyger, known for her recent appearance in the Judd Apatow movie The King of Staten Island and her half-hour specials on Netflix and Comedy Central; and Gus Constantellis, known in the New York comedy scene for his relatable stand-up comedy about LGBTQ+ issues and his status as a first-generation Greek immigrant.
