YOTEL Miami – Dining Concepts, Vela and Vela Sky
The modern, downtown Miami hotel debuts Vela Sky, a rooftop bar with sweeping city views, and Vela, an eclectic restaurant and lounge on the hotel’s ground floor
YOTEL Miami, an ultra-modern hotel located in the heart of the city, has two dining destinations designed to offer guests and locals an inspired take on Miami fare. The concepts offer diners a choice between two distinct vibes – Vela Sky, an al-fresco rooftop oasis inspired by Miami’s vibrant energy, and Vela, an indoor restaurant and lounge designed for non-stop culinary exploration. Inspired by the port cities that the YOTEL brand calls home, Vela – a Latin name for a ship’s sails – offers an eclectic mix of libations and dining offerings for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.
“Much like downtown Miami, YOTEL’s ethos is centered around a vibrant ‘non-stop’ culture, which we embraced with these two new energetic concepts,” shares YOTEL Miami General Manager Gilberto Garcia-Tunon. “Good vibes in cool settings meant for socializing, and awesome food and drink, are at the heart of both Vela Sky and Vela, while the unique ambiance, programming, and menu offerings at each provide a perfect downtown dining experience for any occasion.”
Poised to be downtown’s next open-air hotspot, Vela Sky is perched 12 stories above the city on YOTEL Miami’s covered outdoor rooftop. With upbeat music and local flavor, guests can soak in the breeze from Biscayne Bay and cool city views while enjoying Vela Sky’s cocktails, lunch, brunch or tapas-style dinner offerings.
With tropical accents and a vibrant, Insta-worthy mural, guests at the 95-seat lounge will step off the bustling Miami streets and into an urban oasis. Miami-inspired cocktails like the Miami Mimosa – prosecco and orange juice with a dash of Cointreau, the Beach Bellini – peach nectar, peach schnapps and prosecco, mojitos, daiquiris and other refreshing libations offer the perfect sips for al-fresco socializing. Guests can also choose from Vela Sky’s “Sustainable Sips” menu, as part of YOTEL’s global mission to provide sustainable experiences, and in partnership with Bacardi. For each of these refreshing drinks sold, YOTEL will donate $1 to Beneath the Waves, a foundation dedicated to ocean conservation.
As the sun sets for Vela Sky’s daily social hour from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., soak up the vibrant Miami sunset on the day-to-night rooftop, complete with sweeping views of the bay and beyond. At night, the lounge’s lively atmosphere and weekly DJs will set the stage for guests to enjoy a sweet ending to their day, or kick off an exciting evening in Miami, open until 11 p.m. Vela Sky’s seasonal cuisine is designed for sharing, and includes Ahi Tuna, Blistered Shishito Peppers, Fried Yuca, Citrus Salad with arugula, and a variety of other fresh and flavorful dishes.
Located on YOTEL Miami’s ground floor, Vela’s 84-seat bar and restaurant offers classic cocktails with a twist, including the Sailors Aperol Spritz – Aperol and white rum, topped with prosecco and an orange slice, and the Pimm’s No. 1, made with Pimm’s, lemonade and fresh fruit infused with tequila.
The sleek space also offers diners a globally-inspired, rotating menu, including a selection of brunch benedicts and breakfast bowls, and lunch and dinner options like refreshing Gazpacho and Pan-Seared Salmon with quinoa salad, mango salsa, and chipotle vinaigrette.
Vela and Vela Sky are located at 227 NE 2nd St., conveniently within walking distance to many of downtown Miami’s most popular sites and experiences.
Vela Sky is open every day from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Vela is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information visit http://www.vela-miami.com, or make reservations by visiting OpenTable.
