The Betsy Hotel Announces Programming for Miami Art Week 2024
As the incubator of the arts in Miami Beach, The Betsy Hotel is committed to artistic excellence during Miami Art Week and throughout the year, serving as both an art institution and a cultural destination while allowing guests to experience a rich tapestry of initiatives designed to make art accessible and engaging for everyone. For Miami Art Week 2024, the hotel will display works by more than 15 new artists alongside its growing permanent collection. It will also host several special events, including live dance and jazz performances. All of the artwork displayed is for sale, with a portion of proceeds going toward Zara’s Center, The Betsy’s charitable organization benefiting children in Zimbabwe.
The Betsy is one of 12 hotels chosen to participate in the fifth edition of “No Vacancy” in collaboration with the City of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA). As part of this program, “The Betsy Orb,” the egg-shaped architectural masterpiece that serves as a bridge connecting the hotel’s two buildings, will light up with a site-specific work by local transmedia artist [dNASAb] (pronounced diz-nee).
[dNASAb]’s work fuses the present and the future to imagine an optimistic, tech-integrated world. He uses upcycled ocean debris and reclaimed plastics to create kinetic sculptures that highlight the need to protect marine ecosystems from pollution. Through his work, [dNASAb] explores the yet-to-be-seen impacts of technology and the complex environmental challenges in South Florida’s natural ecosystems. (Credit: [dNASAb]).
“This work raises critical questions about the environmental impact of plastic waste on even the most fundamental levels of life, challenging viewers to confront the far-reaching consequences of human pollution,” said [dNASAb], who has had the honor of exhibiting his creations worldwide in collaboration with industry giants like Microsoft, Apple and Bloomberg.
