Sagamore Hotel South Beach, Miami Beach’s historic art deco hotel known for its year-round art programming and museum-quality exhibitions, is once again celebrating Miami Art Week with a series of interactive activations and events. This year, the hotel has partnered with BitBasel MOA Miami, and Treasure Investment Corporation, for a series of exhibitions in its public spaces and the 23rd annual Sagamore Art Brunch.
The headlining exhibition will be Eternal Creations, an extraordinary collection of seven one-of-a-kind pure silver casts of Michelangelo’s most iconic masterpieces displayed in the hotel lobby. These exceptional sculptures were crafted using the original negative molds from the historic Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli in Florence, Italy (entrusted to the foundry by Pope Pius XI before World War II to preserve the Vatican’s most priceless art treasures), ensuring an authentic and direct lineage to Michelangelo’s originals. Treasure Investments has exclusive rights to these posthumous masterpieces, adding further prestige to the collection.
The collection includes Michelangelo’s Pietà, an astonishing 1-of-1 pure silver cast measuring 69 by 68 by 42 inches, the largest pure silver sculpture ever created; Battle of the Centaurs (33 by 36 inches) and Madonna of the Stairs (22 by 15.8 inches), both crafted in pure silver and highlighting Michelangelo’s intricate detailing and emotional depth; Pitti Tondo and Taddei Tondo (diameters of 33.5 inches and 42 inches, respectively), depicting tender interactions between the Madonna, child and the infant Saint John, showcasing the sculptor’s finesse; the Silver David, a 6-foot-tall partial cast of the famous 17-foot statue that encapsulates the idealized beauty and the strength of the human form; and the Belvedere Torso by Apollonios (5.2 feet tall), a fragment of a statue found in Rome at the end of the 15th century, came into the Vatican collections between 1530 and 1536.. These historic pieces will be unveiled for the first time, offering collectors and art enthusiasts a rare opportunity to witness the Eternal Creations in a modern context.
This year’s iteration of the Sagamore Art Brunch will take place on December 7, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., welcoming hundreds of industry leaders spanning art, entertainment and social media. As one of the most sought-after invites of the year, this exclusive event consistently delivers the gold standard of the Miami Art Week experience with numerous art activations, live art, fashion shows, NFT displays, performances by the South Florida Symphony, gourmet catering by Paul, passed cocktails, mixology stations and more. Historically, the Sagamore Brunch has been a signature event for the elite of the international art world, including collectors, dealers and artists. It’s a fitting tradition for the boutique beachfront hotel, which has been a staple of Miami Beach’s art scene since its art deco days. Tickets are now available and on Eventbrite.
Through its internationally acclaimed #SagamoreIsArt cultural platform under the direction of Ronit Neuman, the hotel’s co-owner since 2015, the Sagamore continues to offer immersive year-round art experiences to locals and guests alike, including rotating selling exhibits and exclusive partnerships with leading museums, international art galleries, nonprofit organizations, established and emerging artists, and private collectors. The Sagamore is one of the only venues in Miami Beach showcasing museum-quality art that is free to visit and on sale to the public 24/7.
