Doral Contemporary Art Museum (DORCAM) at CityPlace Doral is pleased to present the exhibition, “Magic City: Contemporary Visions of Miami,” curated by Ronald Sánchez of Laundromat Art Space. Debuting Thursday, Aug. 8, “Magic City: Contemporary Visions of Miami” will be on view at DORCAM’s new pop-up space at CityPlace Doral in Suite 216 until Oct. 31. DORCAM will celebrate the exhibition with a VIP Preview on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 7 to 10 p.m. “Magic City: Contemporary Visions of Miami” is a captivating exhibition that delves into the multifaceted essence of Miami by exploring a diverse array of topics that define the city, including its vibrant nightlife, stunning architecture, the dynamic stories of immigration, the challenges and opportunities of economic mobility, the complex issue of gentrification and the pressing concerns of climate change. Each element is thoughtfully presented to offer a comprehensive understanding of what makes Miami truly unique. The exhibition will feature works from participating artists including Mark Herrera, Claudio Marcotulli, Dre Martinez, Pablo Matute, Stephanie Silver, Julia Zurilla and Chantae Elaine Wright.

Third Annual “Dia de Los Muertos” Day of The Dead Celebration at CityPlace Doral

Celebrating with sugar skulls and marigolds! The community is welcome to CityPlace Doral’s Third Annual Day of The Dead – Dia de Los Muertos – celebration. The month-long activation, taking place Oct. 1 through Nov. 3, will recognize this culturally rich Latin American tradition culminating with a free community event on Saturday, Nov. 2. Starting Tuesday, Oct. 1, CityPlace Doral will be vibrantly decorated with gorgeous colorful Dia de Los Muertos-themed decorations through Nov. 2. At the main entrance, guests will be welcomed by a wooden calavera (sugar skull) and colorful Marigolds overhead. Sugar skulls will be displayed throughout City Place Doral and the Fountain Plaza will be ornamented with an altar display of a trio catrines (male skeleton figures) with flowers, Marigolds and more. All items are hand-crafted by Artistic Elves. The main Day of the Dead event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m., where children and families can enjoy face painting, food sampling from local restaurants and a center-wide processional with performances by folkloric dancers, stilt walkers, mariachis and costumed characters. The Baila Conmigo Kids Dance School will host a special youth performance. Guests can also shop and stroll the “El Mercado” night market, a marketplace for people and their pets. Furry friends are encouraged to meet up at CityPlace Doral’s City Bark dog park. Decorated with fun photo moments, a doghouse, dog bone and a fire hydrant, City Bark is a paws-itively good time. There are also four pet waste stations located conveniently throughout the property. Guests and pets are encouraged to dress in Day of the Dead theme.
