Michelin-Starred Chef Carlos Gaytán to Debut New Restaurant at Princess Mundo Imperial
As Princess Mundo Imperial embarks on a bold new chapter following an extensive $120 million transformation, the renowned resort is set to welcome Teté, Cocina del Alma, the newest culinary venture from Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán. Opening this summer, the restaurant will celebrate Gaytán’s deep-rooted connection to the Guerrero area, blending haute cuisine with the nostalgic flavors of his childhood.
A trailblazer in the world of Mexican gastronomy, Gaytán made history as the first Mexican chef to earn a Michelin star for his acclaimed Chicago restaurant, Mexique. He has since expanded his culinary footprint with Tzuco in Chicago and a trio of celebrated restaurants, Paseo, Céntrico, and Tiendita, at Downtown Disney District in Anaheim. Now, he is returning to Acapulco’s most iconic resort to share his passion and expertise through an immersive dining experience.
“Returning to Guerrero with this project is deeply personal. I want guests to feel like they are stepping into my home, experiencing the flavors and traditions that shaped my journey,” said Gaytán.
Named in honor of his mother, Doña Teté (Teresa), Teté, Cocina del Alma will feature an intimate dining room for 60 guests, as well as a lively outdoor bar and patio seating for 100, offering a setting that is both refined and welcoming.
The launch of Teté, Cocina del Alma comes amid the renovation of Princess Mundo Imperial, reinforcing Acapulco’s reputation as a world-class travel and dining destination. As part of the resort’s evolving culinary scene, the restaurant will be joined by an authentic Italian concept from esteemed Florentine Chef Paolo Miano, adding to the hotel’s growing selection of gourmet experiences.
With Teté, Cocina del Alma, Chef Carlos Gaytán bridges past and present, bringing the essence of Mexican cuisine to a setting where food, memories, and passion converge. As Princess Mundo Imperial embraces a dynamic new era, Acapulco is poised to reclaim its place as a premier destination for luxury, culture, and world-class gastronomy.
Teté, Cocina del Alma is scheduled to open in Summer 2025.
