Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation Awards $20,000 in Grants to Local Public Schools for Fall Project Initiatives
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) Education Foundation, chaired by Bruce Gould, proudly awarded $20,000 to local Miami Beach public schools as part of a new initiative: Fall Community School Projects. This generous donation highlights the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering a supportive and enriching environment within our local schools. Through this initiative, the Foundation continues to demonstrate its dedication to making a meaningful impact on the education and development of Miami Beach students. To personally deliver these contributions, Miami Beach Chamber leadership, including Richard Segal, chairman of MBCC and co-founder of RFB+Fisher Potter Hodas and co-manager of the Miami office; Vice Chairs Linsey Lovell and Alfredo J. Gonzalez; Education Foundation Chair Bruce Gould; and President & CEO Brittnie Bassant, visited the two Miami Beach public schools receiving the grant funds.
The first $10,000 was awarded to North Beach Elementary for their impactful project, “Planting Trees for a Greater Community.” With a focus on environmental stewardship, the school plans to plant Dade County Pines throughout the campus and surrounding areas, creating a greener, more vibrant environment for all. This project not only enhances the school’s landscape but also serves as an educational tool, as students will actively participate in planting and caring for the trees. By integrating this hands-on activity into their curriculum, North Beach Elementary is fostering teamwork, environmental consciousness, and a deeper connection to the natural world. Additionally, students will have the unique opportunity to take home and plant a Dade County Pine, further extending the project’s impact into the community.
Another $10,000 was awarded to Miami Beach Fienberg Fisher K-8 for their innovative “Children of the World Park Enhancement Project.” This initiative is designed to transform the school’s Children of the World Park into a sensory-rich, interactive, and educational space. By introducing a variety of butterfly and hummingbird-attracting plants, along with other enhancements, the project aims to provide students with opportunities for sensory enrichment, environmental education, and creative expression. The revamped park will serve as a vibrant outdoor classroom where students can explore and learn in a dynamic and stimulating environment, fostering their curiosity and creativity.
“We are thrilled to support our local Miami Beach public schools through these impactful projects,” said Bruce Gould, Chair of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation. “These initiatives are a testament to the power of community and the importance of investing in our future.”
President & CEO Brittnie Bassant echoed this sentiment, stating, “The Education Foundation’s work is the cornerstone of our mission to uplift and empower our public education system. We look forward to seeing the lasting impact these projects will have on our schools.”
Richard Segal, Chairman of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and co-founder of RFB+Fisher Potter Hodas and co-manager of the Miami office, added, “It is incredibly rewarding to see how our efforts are directly benefiting the students and teachers in our community. These projects exemplify the Chamber’s commitment to education. We are proud to be a part of this initiative and excited to see the positive outcomes it will bring.”
The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation is deeply committed to supporting the growth and development of Miami Beach’s public education system. Through initiatives like these, the Foundation continues to make meaningful contributions that inspire and empower the next generation.
