Lind Presents “A New Way To Play” Exhibition During Miami Art Week 2024, With Public Auction To Benefit Oceanic Global
November 18, 2024 – Stockholm – LIND, the electric surfboard designer and manufacturer merging traditional surfboard craftsmanship with state-of-the-art-technology, will culminate the successful global tour of their “A New Way to Play” exhibition with a showcase and public auction of their one-of-a-kind art boards during Miami Art Week 2024 to benefit Oceanic Global. Building on the success of previews during events such as the Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, and Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the Miami Art Week display at The Standard, Miami Beach, marks the official unveiling of LIND’s full “A New Way to Play” exhibition.
With exceptional design at the core of their offerings, LIND conceptualized the exhibition as a collaboration between style and science. For it, they hand-selected some of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists to create works tied to the theme “A New Way to Play,” a nod to their innovative electric surfboard, while also signifying a fresh way to interact with our oceanic playgrounds: by not only using them for our leisurely entertainment, but by giving back to them while we do so. With their partnership with Oceanic Global, LIND aims to inspire action for Ocean conservation by harnessing the combined power of art and innovation.
The “A New Way to Play” online public auction will open at 8:00 AM ET on December 3, 2024, and close at 8:00 PM ET on December 8, 2024, exclusively on the LIND website (LINK). Bidders from around the world will have the opportunity to place their bids on these distinctive art boards, with starting bids set at $25,000. Each auctioned board is not just a piece of art, but a fully functional electric surfboard that exemplifies LIND’s commitment to responsible ocean recreation. Proceeds benefit Oceanic Global, an international NGO that reconnects humanity to the ocean as the lifeblood of our planet and provides tangible solutions and blueprints for coexisting in harmony with the natural world.
Real-time bidding will follow throughout the official auction window, with the highest bidder at the close of the auction declared the winner on December 9, 2024. Winning bidders will be notified via email directly from the LIND team.
In addition to the online public auction, a private auction dinner will be held on December 2, 2024, at The Standard, Miami Beach. This exclusive event will offer select invitees and highly interested bidders the opportunity to bid on and win boards ahead of the public online auction. If interested in attending, tickets can be purchased through D’Puglia who will be hosting the event (LINK). LIND’s art boards will also be on display throughout Miami Art Week at The Standard, allowing guests to view these unique creations and works of art in person.
Said Anders Dellson, Co-Founder and CEO of LIND, “As we bring the ‘A New Way to Play’ exhibition to its grand finale during Miami Art Week, we’re pleased to offer art lovers, collectors, and water sports enthusiasts alike the opportunity to own one of these unique boards designed by some of our favorite global artists. The LIND team has spent a lifetime dreaming of surfing without waves. That dream became a reality with the innovation of their electric surfboard that embodies the look and feel of surf’s most enduring pieces while hiding state-of-the-art drivetrain technology within the board’s underside. Through their innovations, LIND is poised to open up the world’s playground to wherever there is water.
The result of years of intensive design and engineering work, LIND boards—including the battery, jet, wireless remote, charger and all accessories—are entirely designed in-house from scratch. They are beautiful outside and in, completely tool-less and fully modular. At only 7 kg or 15 lbs, the board can be carried under one arm with the battery and jet in a custom designed backpack. The ease of transportation paired with a set-up process taking less than one minute ensures users move from living room to lakeside as quickly and easily as possible.
The brand’s first stock release, the LIND Canvas, draws inspiration from iconic surfboard designs and serves as the cornerstone for LIND’s subsequent board models, emphasizing superior craftsmanship, thoughtful shaping and exceptional performance. Shaped from EPS foam, glassed in epoxy resin and with fine details like its oak wood tail block and stringer, the board combines timeless appeal with otherworldly drivetrain technology.
