Jack & Jill Center Announces New Appointments to its Board of Directors
Jack & Jill Center — the longest running nonprofit provider of early childhood education in Broward County – is pleased to announce new appointments to the organization’s board of directors.
Longtime Jack & Jill Center supporter Scott MacLaren, who is currently president and board director of Stiles, has been named president of the board of directors. He will serve in the position for a one-year term. Immediately prior to being named president, MacLaren served as vice president.
As president of Stiles and a member of the company’s executive leadership team, MacLaren is focused on day-to-day operations and overall strategy. He plays an integral role in driving Stiles’ future pipeline of activity, including development, acquisitions and third-party services. Since joining Stiles in 1999, MacLaren has held roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of finance, acquisitions, asset management and development. From 2012 through 2015, MacLaren served as president of Stiles North Carolina Operations, in which he developed and executed the company’s growth strategy in North Carolina as well as select Southeastern US markets.
Prior to joining Stiles, MacLaren worked in the finance division of Sony Corporation. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with both an undergraduate degree in Finance and an MBA. MacLaren has been actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations.
Additionally, former Secretary Susan Cameron, retired CEO and chairman of Reynolds American, Inc., has been appointed vice president, Jeffrey Klink, chief banking officer of Valley Bank, has been named secretary and Ann L. Payne, an independent financial expert and strategic partner, has remained on the board as treasurer.
Four new members have also been appointed to the board of directors including:
- Bruce I. March, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Global Corporate Practice
- Robert B. Lochrie III, partner of Lochrie & Chakas, P.A.
- Kate Murphy Voltz, private real estate investor
- M. Alejandra Arnold, managing director and principal of Templeton & Company’s Family Office

Jack & Jill Center supports children of high-need working families through quality early childhood education, elementary education and family strengthening programs to ensure every child and family has the tools they need to be successful. In the past 80 years, Jack & Jill Center has served over 26,000 children and families in South Florida.
In 2021, Jack & Jill Center debuted its Madelaine Halmos Academy’s new state-of-the-art elementary school building, an expansion of Jack & Jill Center’s Early Education Center at its 1315 West Broward Blvd. campus in Fort Lauderdale. Serving students from high-need working families in kindergarten–fifth grade, the transformational project prepares students for success in their careers and life and is one of the highest-performing schools in Broward County. With its new building, Madelaine Halmos Academy significantly extended its offerings by providing a private school incorporating research-based best practices. The academy provides a safe, academically sound and socially supportive environment for students. NAEYC-Accredited Early Education, serving six weeks through VPK-4, is also available on campus.
