The iconic progressive rock group originated in London in 1968, with its founding members including lead vocalist Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford. Throughout their illustrious history, the band has witnessed numerous alterations in their lineup, with a total of 20 musicians serving as full-time members at different times.
As of February 2023, Yes has been comprised of the talents of guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes, bassist Billy Sherwood, vocalist Jon Davison, and drummer Jay Schellen. Over the years, Yes has explored a wide array of musical styles, earning them widespread recognition as trailblazers in the realm of progressive rock.
Their most popular tracks include “Roundabout,” celebrated for its complex composition; “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” a chart-topping pop-rock hit; “Close to the Edge,” a 20-minute epic showcasing their progressive prowess; “I’ve Seen All Good People,” blending memorable melodies; and “Heart of the Sunrise,” known for its intricate instrumentals and powerful guitar work. These songs epitomize Yes’s diverse musical range and lasting influence in the world of rock.
