Be A Hero-Run4Kids and 5K Run/Walk

Get set to Run, Jog or Walk! The David Posnack JCC (DPJCC) and Laurens Kids will once again host the Be A Hero - Run4Kids 5k Race at the DPJCC's 40-acre Campus in Davie, Florida, attracting participants from the tri-county area. Everyone of all ages is welcome to participate in this family 5K, including competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, stroller pushers, wheelchair racers, and tail-waggers. The event will benefit the JCC's Giborim United program, which includes enrichment classes and summer camp for children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as Lauren's Kids programs which educate adults and children about child sexual abuse prevention through in-school curricula, awareness campaigns, and speaking engagements. The North Pole Pajama Party, South Florida’s favorite winter family tradition, returns to MODS on Saturdays, December 9 and 16, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.! Comfy patterned pajamas and elf costumes are encouraged for this festive event! Enjoy a holiday science show, test your aim at our tropical “snowball” throwing station, make-and-take your own snow globe and build your own snowman. Admission includes an invitation to see The Polar Express in the AutoNation® IMAX® Theater. The film will start at 10 a.m. Activity highlights include penning a letter to Santa, popping bubbles in our bubble zone, viewing a snowy liquid nitrogen show and enjoying marshmallows frozen in liquid nitrogen swimming in hot chocolate! Early Learners (ages 0-6) can hunker down for holiday story time! South Florida’s award-winning attraction featuring 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, a rotating schedule of science shows, learning labs, café, store and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture; the largest clock in Florida. Based on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe from The Chronicles of Narnia, this musical follows the four mischievous Pevensie children through a Magical Wardrobe into a mystical land of beauty and danger. The White Witch has frozen the land of Narnia, once ruled by the great and majestic lion, Aslan, King of Narnia, in a perpetual winter of darkness and despair. With the help of the mystical creatures of Narnia, the Pevensie children discover valuable lessons of courage, unselfishness, and wisdom as they help King Aslan, the Great Lion of Narnia, confront the Wicked White Witch.
