Curated by Massimo Pulini in partnership with Aria Art Gallery (Florence), “Timelessness” explores how art transcends time and place. Art never ceases to tell different stories to everyone and this narrative is tied to a remote time and distant geography. The Donald M. Ephraim Sun & Stars International Film Festival©, presented by MorseLife, is pleased to announce the dates for the 2024 Festival. From February 27 through March 11, 2024, the Festival will screen 25 films spanning a wide range of themes and cultures and explore an eclectic mix of voices and perspectives at two different theaters. The Festival was founded by Donald M. Ephraim with the vision to be known as the annual celebration of dynamic cinematic storytelling, where people with a passion for movies gather each year to share experiences and ideas. Now in its second year and attracting the work of both emerging and established filmmakers from around the world, the Festival will once again bring the best in cinema to Palm Beach County and act as a major contribution to the cultural life of the county. The films include international prize winners and new work by renowned directors and producers. Selected filmmakers will be present for exclusive audience discussions. Many films first debuted at renowned film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Sundance, and Tribeca. The Donald M. Ephraim Sun & Stars International Film Festival has lined up a wide-ranging selection of films, including features and documentaries from both up-and-coming and established filmmakers from around the world, including Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The Festival will showcase a selection of films that appeal to Jewish audiences, from tense WWII dramas of courage and daring to a heart-tugging family comedy and a chronicle of a one-of-a-kind rabbi’s street-level efforts to put compassionate Judaism into action. The film lineup will be announced, and individual tickets and membership packages will go on sale on Friday, January 12. Film aficionados will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets on Friday, January 12, at 3 p.m. at sasiff.org.

Wood, CFO, FIFireE, and retired Chief of the Boca Raton Fire Department, has spent years researching the Boca Raton Army Air Field and its Fire Department. Wood will share information about the many incidents the BRAAF Fire Department handled including the crash of a B34 Lexington bomber on May 12, 1944—eighty years ago. Nine soldiers lost their lives in the crash. Through Wood’s efforts, a state historical marker commemorating the tragedy was unveiled on FAU’s campus in 2021. 6p Refreshments. 6:30 Speaker starts. The emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement pushed her art in the direction of social awareness and change. Chire has dedicated both her artistic practice and her life to community advocacy and activism. Her work responds to urgent societal concerns and functions as a critical platform to amplify the voices of community members who are often silenced. Over the past decade, Chire has focused primarily on community advocacy and depicting social narratives without distortion in various mediums. In South Florida, Chire continues to merge her artistic practice with community-led activism, emphasizing the art of storytelling as a means of engaging with communities with radical empathy and transparency. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present the return of “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture” from Friday, September 15 through Sunday, October 15. This fine art and sculpture exhibit celebrating the contributions of our multicultural Latin community will feature work from local artists including Leonardo Montoya (Colombia), Lifrancis Rojas (Venezuela), Isabel Perez Salazar (Venezuela) and Florencia Clement de Grandprey (Spain). History Fort Lauderdale is proud to host a variety of engaging multicultural experiences, year-round. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent exhibits including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “The African American Experience,” “Fashion & Musical Theatre,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: the story of boatbuilding along the New River,” Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” and, most recently, “Take PRIDE, a retrospective on LGBTQ life in South Florida.” The nonprofit museum also hosts an artists’ collective collaborative space. History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request.
