“Six Perspectives” Residents’ Collective Art Exhibit at History Fort Lauderdale

History Fort Lauderdale’s third floor resident artists’ collective will present its annual show entitled “Six Perspectives” from May 4 – June 22. The six artists exhibiting are Constance Ivana, Stephanie McMillan, Rucci, Florencia Clement de Grandprey, Jenna Ross and Agneta Anderson. A meet and greet with the artists will take place on Friday, May 10, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the New River Inn Museum of History building on History Fort Lauderdale’s campus. Complimentary light bites and beverages will be provided. History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, hosts a variety of engaging multicultural experiences, year-round. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent exhibits including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “The African American Experience,” “Fashion & Musical Theatre,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: the story of boatbuilding along the New River,” Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” and, “Take PRIDE, a retrospective on LGBTQ life in South Florida.” “Six Perspectives” is sponsored by the following funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. Rutten Fund and The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Broward Community Fund. Additional funding is provided, in part, by Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward County Cultural Council, and Visit Lauderdale. The films include international prize winners and new work by renowned directors and producers. Selected filmmakers will be present for exclusive audience discussions. Many films first debuted at renowned film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Sundance, and Tribeca. The Donald M. Ephraim Sun & Stars International Film Festival has lined up a wide-ranging selection of films, including features and documentaries from both up-and-coming and established filmmakers from around the world, including Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The Festival will showcase a selection of films that appeal to Jewish audiences, from tense WWII dramas of courage and daring to a heart-tugging family comedy and a chronicle of a one-of-a-kind rabbi’s street-level efforts to put compassionate Judaism into action. The film lineup will be announced, and individual tickets and membership packages will go on sale on Friday, January 12. They’ll even engineer a coral nursery that is resilient to weather fluctuations. Children will explore different cultures around the world and create an art piece with diverse cultural influences. Wood, CFO, FIFireE, and retired Chief of the Boca Raton Fire Department, has spent years researching the Boca Raton Army Air Field and its Fire Department. Wood will share information about the many incidents the BRAAF Fire Department handled including the crash of a B34 Lexington bomber on May 12, 1944—eighty years ago. Nine soldiers lost their lives in the crash. Through Wood’s efforts, a state historical marker commemorating the tragedy was unveiled on FAU’s campus in 2021. 6p Refreshments. 6:30 Speaker starts.
