BOL Hospitality Group (BHG) is proud to announce the debut of Common Room, a neighborhood American restaurant near Young Circle in Downtown Hollywood. Opening summer 2026, Common Room is located at 2032 Harrison St., Hollywood, FL 33020.
BHG was founded in 2013 by Eric Douglas and Hai Nguyen, two South Florida hospitality operators who have built a reputation for their portfolio of high-energy, experience-driven concepts across South Florida. The group's portfolio includes Bae Korean Grill, The BŌL Asian Cuisine and Davidoff of Geneva Cigar Lounge at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, and Social Room in Hollywood. Zhō, a new pan-Asian restaurant, is slated to open at Dania Pointe in Q4 2026. Douglas leads brand development and long-term growth initiatives, while Nguyen oversees operational strategy and concept execution. Common Room marks the group's next chapter in South Florida.
At the heart of Downtown Hollywood, Common Room was designed to serve as a neighborhood anchor. Common Room’s philosophy centers on reliably delicious food and expertly crafted cocktails in a warm and energetic atmosphere. The Common Room team prides itself on hospitality, where guests become regulars. Discreetly tucked within the restaurant is The Brooklyn Room, a curated speakeasy accessible by invitation only. Its approachable dining experience, layered with a post-dinner experiential cocktail component, offers guests two distinct experiences under one roof.
Douglas coordinated a team of South Florida based companies to assist him in this project. Jewel Toned Interiors designed the interiors, and the architecture and construction were led by Kaller Architects and Lombardi Development. Distinct floral coverings and brass-framed mirrors give the space a sense of nostalgia that anchors the guest experience before a single dish arrives. The intimate 2000 square-foot restaurant offers seating for approximately 65 guests in the dining room, with future outdoor seating planned.
The Brooklyn Room operates as a discreetly positioned speakeasy, accessed through the alley in the back of the restaurant. Entry is granted by invitation only, though regulars who make Common Room or any of BOL Hospitality Group’s concepts a habit tend to find their way inside. As a nod to the New York City Borough, guests will enjoy cocktails named after more well-known Brooklyn neighborhoods. Each night will bring a unique mix of beats, including old school hip hop and jazz.
Executive Chef Tanya Evans brings a culinary vision built on simplicity: delicious and familiar, executed with fresh ingredients. Evans comes to Common Room with experience at Barton G, Major Food Group and Café Minstral, a background that spans high-volume hospitality and detail-driven kitchens. The menu draws on the comfort of American classics, with signature dishes including lobster rolls, Yum Yum fried chicken, slow-braised short rib and French dip. Ingredients are sourced fresh from premium suppliers, with quality as the consistent standard across every dish.
The Supper Club-inspired cocktail program, designed by Miami’s Unfiltered Hospitality, pairs classic builds with original signatures, each grounded in fresh, quality ingredients and finished with the kind of Miami-influenced flair. The menu is thoughtfully designed to carry guests from happy hour through last call without missing a beat.
“We are proud to welcome Common Room to the Hollywood community, an intimate neighborhood modern American restaurant with a vibe,” said Douglas. “Common Room will be known for great food, an amazing vibe and excellent service. It’s where happy hour effortlessly rolls into great evenings, and great dinners turn into memorable nights.”
“While access to The Brooklyn Room speakeasy is by invitation only, becoming a familiar face at any BOL Hospitality Group’s establishments doesn’t hurt your possibilities of getting an invite,” he continued.
Hours of operation are Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. Common Room will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO) Is returning to Key West on June 28 with a Summer with the Symphony chamber music concert special engagement presented in partnership with the Tennessee Williams Theatre at the College of the Florida Keys! The June 28 program evokes luminosity with its “Sparkle & Charm” theme. From sold-out masterworks performances to accompanying today’s musicians such as Natalie Merchant and Arrival from Sweden: The Music of ABBA to performing modern musical scores including Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and Back to the Future, featuring the iconic films screened live with audio and musical accompaniment, South Florida’s largest symphonic orchestra is continuing its journey of excellence inspiring audiences of all ages and musical genres.
The series is presented under the artistic direction of Sebrina María Alfonso, music director of South Florida Symphony Orchestra and curated by SFSO pianist Catherine Lan. The Historic Stranahan House Museum – the oldest house in Fort Lauderdale and the epicenter of Broward County’s long and fascinating history – is excited to host its Fourth Annual Founding Families Fall Festival. The annual event will take place on Friday, Sept 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., with the picturesque New River creating the perfect backdrop.
The community is invited to celebrate the founding families of Fort Lauderdale with festive fall fun. Guests will enjoy food trucks, beer and wine vendors, games, live music, and more for all ages. The Water Taxi will be providing complimentary rides. A special ceremony to honor the founding families will take place at 6:15 p.m.
All proceeds will support the year-round historic preservation and education programs at the Historic Stranahan House Museum, one of the top cultural attractions in Fort Lauderdale. The Historic Stranahan House Museum is the oldest house in Fort Lauderdale and the epicenter of Broward County’s long and fascinating history. Built in 1901, Stranahan House is recognized as the birthplace of Fort Lauderdale and was home to the area’s first businessman, Frank Stranahan, and the first schoolteacher, Ivy Cromartie Stranahan. Stranahan House opened as a museum in 1984.

School is out but Camp STEAMology is in! Children ages 5 – 10 can travel “Around the World” December 26 – 29, from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
In this four-day program, campers will learn about the different continents of the world diving into the science of zoology, migration and behavioral patterns, weather models and more. They’ll even engineer a coral nursery that is resilient to weather fluctuations. Children will explore different cultures around the world and create an art piece with diverse cultural influences.
South Florida’s award-winning attraction featuring 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, a rotating schedule of science shows, learning labs, café, store and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture; the largest clock in Florida. The showpiece of the museum since 1993, this unique timepiece is one of only three in the world.
Children can also visit MODS’ newest traveling exhibit “Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails!” Rail. The exhibit was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum in partnership with Mattel, Inc. and is nationally presented by Fisher-Price.
