This season, South of Fifth gains a new culinary indulgence as Cleo, the Eastern Mediterranean restaurant nestled within the iconic Balfour in Miami Beach, unveils its Mezze Masterclass Series. Beginning August 30, Michelin-trained Executive Chef Camila Olarte invites food lovers to embark on a hands-on journey into the art of mezze, an experience designed to be as enriching as it is delicious.

Hosted in Cleo’s semiprivate dining room, the intimate two-hour sessions unfold on select Saturdays through October. Guests will begin with a welcome cocktail before stepping into an interactive culinary workshop where they will learn the techniques behind mezze favorites such as velvety hummus, smoky eggplant dips, spiced lamb cigars, juicy kabob skewers, and other regional plates. All tools and ingredients are provided, making the experience as approachable as it is immersive.

At the conclusion of each class, guests will gather around the table for a shared meal featuring the dishes they have crafted, accompanied by fresh, house-baked pita, seasonal sides and a complimentary drink of their choice, whether a glass of wine, handcrafted cocktail or refreshing mocktail. Attendees will also take home chef tips and recipes, ensuring the flavors of Cleo linger well beyond the evening.

The Mezze Masterclass Series is ideal for date nights, group outings or anyone eager to dive into the flavors of the Levant and beyond. Each session is limited to just 12 guests, ensuring a highly personalized and memorable experience. The series debuts August 30 and continues September 27 and October 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on OpenTable for $40 per person, with advance reservations required.
