BORDEAUX, FRANCE (February 6, 2025) – Barton & Guestier (B&G), one of Bordeaux’s oldest winehouses, proudly marks its 300th anniversary in 2025, celebrating three centuries of craftsmanship, heritage, and a pioneering spirit that has shaped the world of French winemaking since 1725. Honored as Wine Enthusiast’s European Winery of the Year, B&G continues to lead the industry, with its exceptional wines enjoyed in over 130 countries worldwide. As part of this milestone, B&G is launching Barton & Guestier Côtes du Rhône Les Galets, a collaboration with renowned artist WOO, blending tradition and modern artistry in a visually striking new label.
“As we reflect on 300 years of winemaking excellence, this milestone represents not just our enduring legacy, but our unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Carlos Varela, CEO of BGPL USA. “From Bordeaux to Burgundy, the Loire to Provence, every bottle of Barton & Guestier embodies the spirit of French terroir and the passion that has driven our brand for centuries.”
A Legacy of Heritage and Innovation
Founded in 1725 by Thomas Barton and later joined by Daniel Guestier in 1785, B&G was among the first French wine merchants to export to Ireland, England, and the United States. Once recommended by Thomas Jefferson himself, B&G has remained a symbol of quality and tradition, forging strong relationships with generations of winegrowers across France.
The company’s headquarters, Château Magnol, an 18th-century estate in the Haut-Médoc appellation, has been at the heart of B&G’s winemaking philosophy since 1969. A Cru Bourgeois estate with High Environmental Value certification, Château Magnol not only serves as a hub for sustainable viticulture but also houses the renowned B&G Food & Wine Academy, welcoming over 450 trade partners annually.
Celebrating 300 Years: A Vision for the Future
While B&G honors its storied past, it remains firmly focused on the future. The company continues to embrace sustainability and innovation, pioneering initiatives such as cultivating biodiversity in its vineyards and reintroducing traditional sailing methods for wine transport to reduce carbon emissions, planned for the second half of the year.
B&G’s commitment to modernizing the wine industry is also evident in its products, including B&G NectaRosé, a nonalcoholic sparkling rosé in innovative aluminum packaging, and its leadership in the alcohol-free wine sector.
In 2025, B&G continues to design its future with the launch of Barton & Guestier Côtes du Rhône Les Galets, a unique collaboration with renowned artist WOO. The new label, inspired by WOO’s painting, transforms the bottles into canvases of inspiration, blending tradition and modernity in a visually captivating way. The Cuvée name Les Galets refers to the small stones polished by the Rhône river that characterize the vineyard’s soil. This second collaboration between B&G and WOO reinforces the brand’s dedication to elevating the wine experience through artistry. The B&G Côtes du Rhône, a spicy red blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, is certified High Environmental Value and features a lightweight Burgundy-shaped bottle with the exclusive 300th-anniversary cap.
With an award-winning portfolio sourced from nearly 150 esteemed winegrowers across France’s premier regions, B&G continues to offer wine lovers—from casual enthusiasts to seasoned connoisseurs—a journey through the richness and diversity of French wines. Led by esteemed winemakers Laurent Prada, Florence Tessier and Alice Chevalier, B&G maintains rigorous standards, overseeing every step of the process, from vine to bottle. Recognized for its dedication to quality, B&G is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and high ratings from Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Anivin de France, Mundus Vini, and James Suckling.
As B&G commemorates three centuries of excellence, it remains guided by the values of its founders: a passion for discovery, an unwavering commitment to quality, and a dedication to sharing the Art of Living with the world. The 300th anniversary will be celebrated through global initiatives that honor the company’s rich heritage, highlighted by the social hashtags #doyouspeakfrenchwine in the US and #BG300 internationally.
