Anthony Scavo, COO and President of Real Estate Owner & Operator Basis Industrial, Named One of GlobeSt.’s “CRE’s Best Bosses of 2024”
Basis Industrial COO and President Anthony Scavo, a 30-year commercial real estate leader, has been selected as one of “CRE’s Best Bosses of 2024” by GlobeSt., a premier online publication delivering real estate news and insights. Basis Industrial is a privately held and vertically integrated real estate owner and operator based in Boca Raton, Florida.
“CRE’s Best Bosses of 2024” recognizes successful, one-in-a-million top executives who are ambitious, display financial prowess and exceptional people skills, and lead by example as inspirational, innovative executives. Honorees are not only profoundly accomplished within their field but serve as a boon for their organizations and the people within it.
Since Basis tapped Scavo to lead its team in August 2021, he has been at the helm of each of the company’s transactions, from pre-acquisition to closing, and every stage in between. In the past 1 ½ years alone, Basis acquired 18 properties and over 2 million square feet of industrial product.
Under Scavo’s direction, the company now has more than 4 million square feet of self-storage and industrial real estate and is scheduled to close and/or complete another 2 million square feet in 2024. This includes almost 800 tenants and $500 million of industrial product.
Scavo works tirelessly to ensure that Basis continues to grow and close on its anticipated deals. He has taken on every role from acquisitions and construction to development and fundraising. Simultaneously acquiring and managing deals, he has led the company to great success. He assisted with the launch of BaySpace, Basis’ in-house property management company. Additionally, he helped lead Basis Industrial to be named one of the fastest-growing companies in South Florida by South Florida Business Journal’s 2023 Fast 50 awards.
Scavo began his career at the LeFrak Organization, based in New York, New York, where he spent more than 25 years. He then moved to Red Apple Group, where he spent two years overseeing preconstruction of the tallest mixed-use building on Florida’s west coast, and serving as head of facilities and technical services for all business units under the Red Apple Group umbrella.
“Because of Anthony’s esteemed leadership, Basis has been extremely successful over the past few years when many commercial real estate companies are struggling,” said Daniel Weinstein, CEO of Basis. “He accepts challenges and seeks out opportunities that no one else sees. This distinguished recognition from GlobeSt. is well-deserved.”
“I’m honored to be selected by GlobeSt. as one of CRE’s Best Bosses of 2024,” said Scavo. “I look forward to continuing to lead Basis into the future and guiding our team to develop and grow.”
