Spring has sprung on Fort Lauderdale Beach as Las Olas Oceanside Park blooms with the spirit of the season at the Fourth Annual Spring Fling EGGstravaganza. Sponsored in a major part by the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Beach Improvement District, the event provides an egg-cellent time for everyone to enjoy delightful activities, including three egg hunts tailored to different ages, a Children's Craft Corner celebrating Youth Art Month and National Craft Month, live music, contests and games galore. Guests will have the opportunity to snap photos with the Easter bunny and explore the farmers market for picnic provisions on the lawn. It's a day packed with family-friendly fun and community spirit. Activities and entertainment: The MKT, 10 a.m.– 5 p.m.: Shop and stroll local vendors displaying an eclectic selection of art, clothing, jewelry, home goods, pet supplies, body care and more. Following the egg hunt, local food vendors will have all the items to purchase for a picnic to enjoy on the main lawn. Egg Hunt ‘Scramble,’ 10–11 a.m.: Children 13 and under are encouraged to bring an Easter basket and gather on the main lawn at 10 a.m. for The LOOP’s egg hunt countdown. The egg hunt will be divided into three approximate starting times. Children under 5 will begin at 10 a.m., children ages 6-9 will begin at 10:30 a.m. and children ages 10-13 will begin at 11 a.m. Free pre-registration online is encouraged. The producers of Friday Night Sound Waves are giving guests six more opportunities to check #41 off author Christiana Lilly’s “100 Things to Do in Fort Lauderdale Before You Die” list, with a spring revival of the popular free concert series at The LOOP (Las Olas Oceanside Park), April 21 through May 26 from 6:30–9:30 p.m. Presented by the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Beach Business Improvement District, Friday Night Sound Waves welcomes locals and visitors, the young and the young at heart, to enjoy some of South Florida’s best musical talents, performing an eclectic range of genres ranging from Classic Rock to Latin Jazz, and Top 40 to Tribute Bands. Attendees are invited to come early to enjoy various pre-concert games on the main lawn starting at 5 p.m., along with local artisan vendors and a rotation of food and drink vendors to sip, sup, and shop before, during, and after the show. The LOOP will also host special performances throughout the month of April on select Saturday and Sunday afternoons in recognition of Jazz Appreciation Month in coordination with the weekend Markets. It will also host two concerts by the Navy Rock Band on Sunday, April 23, from 5–6 p.m. and Saturday, April 29, from 4–5:30 p.m. during Fleet Week Fort Lauderdale. May 19 – Hot Brass The Hot Brass featuring Debbie Pierce is a high-energy eight-to-ten-piece band featuring the music from the supergroup Earth, Wind, and Fire. This hot group also adds more flavor to the show with songs from the 2004 Chicago Earth, Wind, and Fire World Tour. Leader Debbie Pierce is a multi-instrumentalist (Sax/Vocal/Flute) who has been performing in South Florida for over 20 years. The band is comprised of some of the best musicians in South Florida and consistently delivers not just great music but great entertainment too. May 12 – Pure Heart & Mr. Nice Guy Band– Mother’s Day Weekend Concert Double Header The Pure Heart band hails from South Florida and features six seasoned professionals performing the timeless classics of the band Heart, led by Hall of Fame artists and sisters Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson. The band tributes its success to the music and powerful hits of Heart that spans generations. The music is played and sung authentically, in true homage to Heart. Songs include “Barracuda,” “Dreamboat Annie,” “Alone,” “These Dreams,” “Magic Man,” “Love Alive,” “Crazy On You” and more. Additionally, Pure Hearts adds some of the favorites Heart chose to remake, including “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin and “Love, Reign O’er Me” by The Who. Formed in 2002, Mr. Nice Guy (MNG) is one of the area's most popular classic rock groups, delivering high-energy performances of some of the best music from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. In addition to a monster set list of classic rock cover songs, Mr. Nice Guy has original music and has recently been on tour, backing major acts such as ZZ Top. Spring has sprung on Fort Lauderdale Beach! The LOOP (Las Olas Oceanside Park) will swing into the spring season with the 3rd Annual Spring Fling EGGstravaganza. The event will provide a “hole” lot of fun for the whole family to enjoy. Sponsored in major part by the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Beach Improvement District, attendees are encouraged to bring their baskets, choose between two egg hunts for children of all ages, and recycle their egg hunt eggs into make-and-take pieces of art. Following the hunt, guests can enjoy a special round of Golf with the Bunny, photo ops, the farmers market, and entertainment, which include: • Farmer’s Market, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.: Shop and stroll local vendors displaying an eclectic selection of art, clothing, jewelry, home goods, pet supplies, body care, and more. Following the egg hunt, local food vendors will have all the makings to purchase all the makings for a picnic to enjoy on the main lawn. • Egg Hunt ‘Scramble,’ 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Children 13 and under are encouraged to bring an Easter basket and gather on the water feature at 10 a.m. for The LOOP’s egg hunt countdown. The egg hunt will be divided into three approximate starting times. Children under 5 will begin at 10 a.m., children ages 6-9 will begin at 10:30 a.m., and children ages 10-13 will begin at 11 a.m. Free pre-registration online is encouraged. • Golden Egg Hunt: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Start searching! Meet at the Pixar Putt Hut for the Golden Egg Hunt Countdown. There will be six golden eggs hidden around Las Olas Oceanside Park. The lucky few to find the golden eggs will enjoy a round of Pixar Putt with the Easter Bunny. Day of only – tickets valid for a family of 4 with a start time of 11:30 a.m. • Golf with the Bunny, 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Don’t miss the last chance to play a round of Pixar Putt at Las Olas Oceanside Park on this final day of the Fort Lauderdale tour.
