The 14th Annual Boca Raton Concours D’elegance Presented By Mercedes-Benz And Autonation Benefitting The Boys & Girls Clubs Of Broward County
The 14th annual Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance presented by Mercedes-Benz and AutoNation has raised over $10 million to date for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Hosted for the 14th consecutive year at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, the event took place from February 7-9, 2020 and included celebrity guest comedian Billy Gardell.
The Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance is the world’s largest owned by a charity, and full benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Founded and directed by Rita & Rick Case of The Rick Case Automotive Group, who, as volunteers have annually continued their leadership and hands-on involvement to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County and the more than 12,000 at-risk youth it serves. “The entire Concours team is comprised of over 300 volunteers who donate their time to the planning and execution of the event,” says Brian Quail, President/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Quail added, “The event attracted thousands of attendees and to date has raised more than $10 million for our organization.” The weekend kicked off with the Hangar Party at Atlantic Aviation at the Boca Raton Airport. All new this year, Mecum Auctions presented the “Gallery Exposition” of Millions of Dollars in Collector Cars and an Automotive Fine Arts Society Show (AFAS) on display – The Mecum Exposition was a presentation of extraordinary vintage automobiles and art by the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) with automobile artists from around the country displaying their work and which was available for purchase. Artists included: Tony Sicorski, Richard Pietruska, Dan McCrary, Dennis Brown, David Chapple, Larry Braun, and Steve Macy.
Additionally, the Saturday program included two-morning automotive seminars: Discussion on the “New 30 Under 30 Class”: Wayne Carini, Facilitator; Presented by Jason Wenig, The Creative Workshop and Diane Fitzgerald, RPM Foundation, with 30 Under 30 Entrants: Michael Krukowski and Oscar Voorhees. Featuring a panel discussion regarding involvement of a younger generation of car enthusiasts. Excellence & Innovation: Auburns, Cords, and Duesenbergs: Discussion on Duesenberg’s and the “Model A” – 100 Years: Presented by Lindsey Green Barrett, President of Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club; Sam Grate, Curator and Brandon Anderson, Executive Director/CEO of the ACD Automobile Museum Intriguing discussion of the innovations, inventions, marketing, and futuristic design of the Auburn Automobile Company, Duesenberg, Inc., and the Cord line under the AAC.
The excitement continued on Saturday evening with the Grand Gala Dinner, Live Auction & Show. Prior to dinner, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and the opportunity to bid on a unique array of items at the silent and live auction. Items such as Jay Leno’s Garage, luxury jewelry and a commissioned painting by the official BCDE artist from Ken Eberts.
Additionally, guests enjoyed this year’s Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance program in which the Automotive Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented by Jason Stein, Publisher of Automotive News as follows: President & CEO of Volkswagen of North America oversees VW & Audi, Scott Keogh; Three-time Indianapolis 500 Winner, Helio Castroneves, and Founder of the Lehman Dealership Enterprises, William Lehman, Jr. Additionally, this year, Chairman of the Board JM Family Enterprises, Colin Brown was inducted into the Dream Makers Society. After the presentation of awards, Billy Gardell provided the evening’s entertainment.
